What is the longest amount of time you can wait after NVC sends case number to embassy to make appointment?

My question basically is...after how much time does it expire or will you not be able to make appointment?

It says 4 months but then what about if it takes like 2 months to get the case sent to the consulate? It is the same expiry date?

Yes, only 4 months, but it can be extended. Should inquire to embassy.

If you are getting close to the expiration date, the USC could contact their US Representative's local office for assistance. The Department of State tends to be quite responsive to inquiries from members of Congress.

We requested assistance with obtaining an interview date, within a specific time frame, to facilitate international travel planning and preparation. The DOS and US Consulate in Moscow were very helpful and accommodating. If your request is reasonable and polite, good things may follow.

Email the Embassy; most are very responsive, no reason to get anyone else involved.

Embassy can extend the petition validity UP TO a year, contact your embassy about this.

If the delay is caused by immigration, they auto extend, if you wish to delay , then you must get approval from the embassy.
