I-134 - Sponsor is a student

Hi,

My US fiancé is a student with a 2014 W-2 salary that is just below the 125% poverty guideline of around $20k. Moreover, she got a guaranteed work once she finished her degree (starting this summer) with a salary that is much higher than the poverty guideline. We plan on getting a letter from her future workplace that officially stating the salary. She also has a lot of assets (investment portfolio), most of them are liquid.

Do you think we will be ok? Or should we have her parents co-sponsor the petition?

A future job will not count, but assets will.

The job offer will not be enough. It is current and continuing income that is evaluated (unless the sponsor is self-employed). If the interview will take place after the new job begins then that would be the current income.

If your fiance has enough assets then the joint sponsor won't be needed. Assets are accepted at a 3:1 asset to income ratio. See the form I-864 instructions ( for K visas the I-134 is held to the same income (125%) level requirements) for valuation guidelines.
