Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

...but overall, I'd imagine that most Americans could place the majority of countries. At the very least, the so-called major ones.

I don't think so. And I don't think that many Europeans would correctly place the majority of US states.

there's a difference between states and countries

EU countries are like US states, so it's a fair comparison.

In May 2005, almost one in ten Brits thought that a country called "Luvania" was joining the EU.

One.Tel (the company that carried out the survey) invited people to correctly identify the 10 new

member states, and added the fictional nation as a bit of a jape. Eight per cent of the 2,500 who

took part picked the sun-kissed republic of Luvania.

One.Tel spokeswoman Carol Barnes said: "People aren't generally aware. They're more involved

in their day-to-day lives rather than the bigger picture of what is going on in the EU."

Which can be taken to read either: "They don't give a tinker's cuss about the EU", or "They're thick".

Or both.

Geography as a school subject in england had nothing to do with where countries are. It was all about soil acidity, plate techtonics, oxbow lakes and stuff like that. I don't remember being taught about political boundaries in any subject except history an that was limited to some of europe.

We also don't learn all the counties of england aand their locations. I feel i should know more about these - my knowledge of such matters has come from my dad and from visiting many parts of the uk.

Now i have to learn all the states and thier locations as i will no doubt need to know it when i go for naturalization. I will end up knowing more about the usa than i do about england.

same here ;)

I've always been pretty good with geography. Sadly, most Americans don't have a passport and have no intention to leave North America. So they just don't have a clue.

The video is obviously edited to show only the stupid people.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
