Good morning all! I have searched through various topics and can't find what I am looking for. My husband (just got married) came in on a K1 visa and we married a couple of weeks ago. I started going through the adjustment paperwork, even looked at all of the information prior to marrying him, and can't remember what we need to do for medical exam (though he went through one for the K1 and states we don't have to if it has been a year since we did the medical exam)

He is Ecuadorian and does not have proof of vaccines. (which is the problem) I found the CDC website for vaccines for adjustment http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#tbl1but wondering if he has to get the vaccines (guessing he does). We don't have a copy of what went to the immigration police at the airport to see if he was vaccinated or proof he doesn't have tb, obviously went with his file. We don't want to spend tons of money on medical bills if at all possible. I read someone went to a normal doctor and spent less money. Can someone tell me if he does need vaccines (he is 42), how can we do this cheaper than going to a civil surgeon that is if we have to do the vaccines. Is there anyone out there that did not have vaccine proof and had to get vaccinated.

Thank you ahead of time and have a fantastic week!

Emily (and Teddy)

You will need a I-693 (medical exam) completed by a civil surgeon, but because it has been less than 12 months only the vaccinations part is needed.

The civil surgeon will know which vaccines he needs if you don't have shots record.

Once completed, he will give you the form in a sealed envelope which you will included in the packet.

I believe Jo Se means you do NOT need a Form I-693.

Your husband should have gotten a Form DS-3025 from the clinic, which shows the vaccinations administered. I plan on getting my husband's vaccines at Walgreens (if needed) and getting them transcribed by a CS. Based on what I found on the civil surgeon's technical guide, we probably won't need to get all CDC vaccines like I originally thought! Your husband may not need them either.

Mrs. T-B.-to-be needed two shots when she arrived. We got them at the County Public Health Department for cheap. They even added their notations to her existing list of vaccinations from Ecuador.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I believe Jo Se meant that OP will need the I-693 but only the vaccinations part, unless the beneficiary has a completed DS 3025, the civil surgeon will need to transcribe them onto the I-693.

Yes, my bad.

I misread your post and I was thinking you meant that the OP needed an I-693 since their medical was less than 12 months.

I apologize for that confusion! Doink!

After talking to many doctors I spoke to a Clinica Latina. Unfortunately we were never given copies of what they did at the dr office in Ecuador, the only thing we have the copies of are his xrays. In speaking with the doctor at the clinic, she stated since we do not have proof of vaccines they can take blood work to see if he was vaccinated and go from there. Nobody should get vaccines again if they already had them. He also told me that he had chickenpox and mumps as a kid and rubella as an adult! He never got vaccinated but am sure he is immune now! TBoneTX did you have proof of vaccines???

Thanks for your posts...I have another unrelated issue to his status change, his I94 is not registered in the system and can't find a single phone number to call. Little by little, the big hump is over... getting him here and getting married. I thought red-tape in Ecuador was crazy... seems it may be a little better in the US but still about the same headache.... Will post again soon if I don't bet an email from Immigration about the I94. :)

What to do if it comes up 'Not found' > https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1697/kw/I-94%20not%20found/

If you still cannot find your I-94, please contact your nearest Customs and Border Protection Deferred Inspection Site and a CBP Officer will be able to assist you.
