Medical fees vary from country to country and also depends on what vaccines are needed. So no one place is going to give the exact dollar amount of the entire cost including every $1 for police certificates, birth certificates, postage, etc.

What the comparison chart does is spell out is what I mentioned before.

There is a lot that goes into the cost of a K1 and not everyone pays the exact same amount. So no one can tell the OP how much will be spent down to the penny.

It's important to give people the links to guides and let me do some research on their own to make their own decisions for what will work best for their own situation.

I encourage the OP to read the guides, embassy info, UK portal, etc.

Well exactly. But you never mentioned looking up consulate information or anything like that in your earlier posts which is why I made sure to bring it up so OP wasn't miseld. Just looking out for them and giving them a better idea of the whole picture.

Luckily I know quite a bit about the London Embassy and their prices on things since I have done most of the research already ^_^

I just want to add to this because only mentioning the visa fee is pretty misleading.

The original application fee is $340, correct, but you also should think about the cost of the medical and the DS-160.

Currently medical for London is £250. I don't remember the DS-160 fee off the top of my head but I am sure it was at least $100.

Not to mentioned the AOS fee you will have to pay eventually which is currently $1050.

It's going to come closer to about $1500-$2000 in the end.

Dont forget the cost of the Marriage Certificate + the AOS for the Green Card. The latter is $1070

Whoops. Off by $20 for the AOS haha.

Yeah there is a lot more to think about than just was mentioned in the guide. That's exactly my point! I just listed the few that came to mind.

Thank you for responding!

We have been trying to decide if it would be better for me, the American to move to the UK or if it would be easier for him, the Englishman to move to Texas.

We have read a lot of different articles about America being very hard to immigrate into.

It would be more expensive and more requirements for you to move to the UK, but if that's what you choose to do its doable likewise her

moving here on K1, I'd suggest you at least see her again one more time, cant she visit you? good luck

Hi i have been online dating with my girlfriend for a year now we met for the first time a week ago and the connectiom between us is fantastic. We'd loke tostart the process of getting a visa but are completely blind to what it entails.

We have 4 questions that we need help to start us off.

How long does a K1 visa stay valid?

How much would it cost?

How long does the process take?

She lives in Texas and i am from England, is it easier for me to get to Texas or vice versa ?

Costs that are required:

K1 London route = $1705 + £295

$340 (USCIS) I-129F petition

£45 (ACPO) Police certificate just before petition approval

£250 (Knightsbridge Doctors) medical exam. Pay at exam.

$265 (Embassy) Visa fee prior to interview. Online pay.

$30 Courier fee if home delivery, $0 to pick up at a depot. Online.

$1070 (USCIS) Adjustment of Status/Work Authorization/Advance Parole

In addition you may have extras like passport photos, mailing things to each other, photocopies, transportation to London twice, overnight stay in London if you choose to go a day early. And some people pay an attorney to do their paperwork for them, however you can do it yourself if one of you commits to studying the guides and information on this site. It is a process, not rocket science. People will help you a lot.

There is a recent discussion in the UK forum about choosing US or UK. You might like to read what others have said. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/575199-was-there-ever-any-question-which-of-you-would-relocate/

If the UK person has not made at least £18,600 for the last six months, then it is a no-go to move to the UK. I think the success of the move often depends on the person. How tied to family and friends are each of you? Which one can adopt a completely new culture more easily and somewhat give up seeing family and friends often? I have been on Visa Journey since 2008. I have seen many through the fiance process, only to see them fall apart, divorce, and come back asking "what happens now?". One week of blissful meeting is not a good gauge of the reality of leaving your country. Ponder it. I will say my English husband loves Texas. Huntsville has a low cost of living and nicer weather than England. Texas has no state income tax. He loves Mexican food, barbeque, and the friendly people. You can find British foods in Kroger. He hates the crazy drivers on I-45, but accepts them as part of the deal in his new home. Not everybody adapts so well and they want it to be exactly like England in Texas. It's not. We have mosquitos, snakes, bugs, high medical costs, no public transportation, and guns. Can you adapt?
