The United States Code, Title 18, Chapter 113 B has the definition of terrorism, as it was amended by the USA PATRIOT Act:

(1)the term “international terrorism” means activities that—
(A)
involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State, or that would be a criminal violation if committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or of any State;
(B)appear to be intended—
(i)
to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii)
to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii)
to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
©
occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of the United States, or transcend national boundaries in terms of the means by which they are accomplished, the persons they appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the locale in which their perpetrators operate or seek asylum;
(2)
the term “national of the United States” has the meaning given such term in section 101(a)(22) of the Immigration and Nationality Act;
(3)
the term “person” means any individual or entity capable of holding a legal or beneficial interest in property;
(4)the term “act of war” means any act occurring in the course of—
(A)
declared war;
(B)
armed conflict, whether or not war has been declared, between two or more nations; or
©
armed conflict between military forces of any origin; and
(5)the term “domestic terrorism” means activities that—
(A)
involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B)appear to be intended—
(i)
to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii)
to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii)
to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
©
occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

That is the main definition of terrorism, but there are subsets of the definition as well. The one part of the definition that never varies is the "the use of violence to threaten, intimidate or coerce".

It's pretty clear. If he killed to further his Christian beliefs in the political arena, he is a Christian terrorist.

If a lone Muslim blows up a burger King becuse he hates whoppers he is not a Muslim terrorist

I agree, not sure why this is a difficult concept.

But yet they chose the guns first and foremost. Wonder why? Could it be because guns are the quickest and easiest way to kill? It is much more difficult to obtain explosives, make a bomb and actually use it successfully than it is to purchase guns and use them to kill.

Quick, easy and they hand them out like candy

So what could have stoped them from buying without stopping normal non violent citizens from buying

Without infringing on those rights or changing the constitution, not much in this case. The guns were purchased legally in one of the strictest gun law states there is.

correct, because it is already settled via the 2nd amendment.

There needs to be some change. Too many people are killed by gun violence for this to be acceptable.

I'm pretty sure there are a few people on VJ right now who are willing to call him a Christian terrorist.

Personally, I'd be cool with calling him a monster. I know that's not what Christianity is about.

we should probably just start calling any planned attack terrorism. deal? when can we get to the part where someone explains to me how we can bomb our way out of religious extremism?

There you go.

That's the problem. Because this country flat out refuses to look at amending the 2nd, these deaths will continue to be considered the cost of doing business.

Not the cost of doing business, dry runs. Isn't that what someone said on here

New perspective - What about the poor daughter?

Imagine growing up knowing your parents slaughtered a bunch of people...

I agree with you. However hard place to gain sympathy for her

She's in for a very tough life I think. Not only her knowing what her parents did, but most likely everyone she deals with will as well.

You left out she's born brown and will be hated by many anyway. They'll call her baby terror from this point forward

I don't think that way, so that usually isn't something I would post.
