I live in States. My boyfriend from UK applied for F1 visa. Consulate was very rude; did not peruse any paperwork or job consideration letter from employer when degree was attained. We would like to proceed with the K1 visa (we have known each over 1.5 years). He booked a flight, but now received an e-mail that his esta was denied. What to do next? So unfair. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

File a K1.

1. Don't book flights until there are valid travel documents.

2. What was the reason for the denial of ESTA?

3. K1 will take some time and therefore he should not attempt to board his upcoming flight (without valid travel documents) as customs will not let him into the US.

4. A good idea is to apply for a B1/2 visa for temporary travels.

There is no guarantee that he will receive any type of visa for the US. That all depends on previous history with US immigration.

Good luck!

It looks like he is visa trolling, looking for any way into the US. So expect some questioning about his intentions.

Read the UK regional forum to prepare for what is expected at the London interview.

No reason was given for the ESTA denial. He booked the flight to come visit for three months because he did not get the F1 granted.

He did extensive reading on the consulate interview.

Regarding visa trolling, it may appear that way; however, we have documentation we have known each other at least 1.5 years... with e-mails and Skype.

Thank you both very much for your help.

That evidence of your relationship is exactly what you need to prepare when filing the K1.

Read up on the K1 process and when you're ready submit the petition. Read specifically about London as all embassies are not the same.

He has flown here in June and September 2015; and booked a flight to come visit since F1 was turned down; but again, now ESTA was denied - no reason. Thank you again Boiler.

ESTA does not give a reason for a denial, he wont get on a plane to the US without a valid Visa or ESTA authorisation.

B would seem a very long shot but no harm trying.

I am an American and by boyfriend is from the UK - no reason given for denial; he even had a letter from an employer in the UK for intent to hire if he was able to get the training. Thank you for your comments...
