Notorize Federal Income Tax Returns?

Hello,

Happy Thanksgiving! I am preparing to send my fiancé documents he would take to the embassy for his interview. My question is if the copies of my taxes-federal income tax returns need to be notarized? One set of instructions says they do and another set says I don't need to send them of I am not self employed ( sending them anyway). I notarized the affidavit of support but how about my previous federal and state taxes?

The job of a notary is to validate that the person signing a thing is indeed that person. They have no part in declaring a document legitimate or not. Your tax documents do not need to be notarized . If you are sending your tax forms you must send all pages. Tax transcripts are easier .

You could get your tax transcripts for free online or by phone. Tax transcripts are the IRS records of what was filed so it is much easier to accept than the tax forms.
