Perhaps the parents should have thought about that before breaking the laws of this country.

perhaps they should have. but what difference does it make to ponder if mom and pop made a good decision 20-25 years ago? if a child has lived in this country the majority of their life, and is not currently a criminal, i would consider their presence in this country an asset. why spend money to deport them?

At one time I was in favor of deportation, but I've softened a bit in my old age. I now think they should be allowed to stay in an LPR status with no path to citizenship.

Not all undocumented aliens came here on their own free will. Many were brought here as children with no idea where they were going or what was ahead. Why should they be stuck with the label "illegal" for something their parents did?

Well we can call the kids undocumented, becuse everyone knows what it means, but it makes people feel better and changes nothing.

i don't see the harm in a path to citizenship but i do see the harm in no path to citizenship, for those who were brought here as minors anyway.

Other than removing the stigma of the word illegal from the title, you are correct. Which is why in the long run this is a futile exercise by congress and they should be spending time on more important things.

except if this goes down anything like the confederate flag distraction, we're all going to be using the word illegal instead of immigrant from here on out.

this is why we can't have nice things america.

As we don't hold kids responsible for their parents illegal acts, I don't believe we should reward them either. Giving them a path to citizenship would be like giving the kids of a bank robber a path to keep the stolen money. Not right, imo.

There are also documented and undocumented nationals. I often forget my wallet at home, which puts me in the latter category.

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

Aliens can also be documented or undocumented and everyone knows what the definition of both are.

You can pick the violation that best suits you, but I think you get my drift. Now don't make me put on Socko!

Can't argue that.

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.
