I am a British citizen and have lived here my entire life, I'm wanting to work in the US and have an employer who wants me to work for him as an apprentice for his landscaping business, my girlfriends father is willing to sponsor me and provide me with a place to live(I have have visited the US many times over the last year). I need to know what type of visa I need to apply for, I'm not a professional in the field. In addition I would be working full time - not as a temporary or seasonal employee.

Also what form(s) would be required of my employer to fill out upon working at his business?

The employer must initiate the process, not you. They bear the cost for the visa and application preparation.

Landscaping would not be an occupation that would be considered for a work visa.

So there's nothing I can really do to work over there doing landscaping, even if the employer wants me to and would do whatever to get me over there?

Correct. That is a job where there are many US citizens and green card holders who can meet the job requirements. It doesn't matter if your GF's dad (or anyone else) wants to hire you specifically.

Marry the girlfriend and she can file a spouse visa petition.

This is the best advice
