Yes you are allowed to bring one box of cigarette to the USA.

Additional things that you are allowed can be found here.

Yes you can bring a carton, no problem. Having said that, can I make a suggestion that you consider not bringing the cigarettes, and use the 12+ hours you'll spend in an airplane, as a head start to try and quit? For the record, I'm not passing judgment, just making a suggestion. It's becoming increasingly more difficult to find places to smoke in the US, which will help boost your will power if you decide to do so.

Good luck!

I have found that using electronic cigarettes is a terrific alternative to smoking cigarettes. Not only are they much healthier than smoke, it's easy to vape on the plane. Yes, yes, they are "technically" against the rules, but no one knows or cares on those long trans-Pacific flights if you vape discreetly, like exhaling into that little blanket they give you. For me, e-cigs have been a Godsend!

That is incredibly inconsiderate. Vapor from e cigs could still set off smoke alarms if not careful causing unneeded stress for others

That's ridiculous. I've vaped on 6 trips to the Philippines, and there have never been any complaints or comments. Vapor won't set off alarms any more than steam from a cup of coffee. I always exhale into the blanket, so there's no visible sign of the vapor, nor any aroma. That's one of the benefits of ecigs.

I've had friends on flights where it has happened. Just because you got away with it doesn't mean that it is right

Well, if anyone ever complains, I'll be happy to put my ecigs in the overhead bin. Until then, I see no reason not to do as I like based solely on political correctness. lol

I believe the current regulation is 2 cartons (20 packs) per traveler, no issue

That's what I always bring back anyway. Never had a problem.

Incremental tax on 'em if they want to get greedy is about a dollar a pack. Since they are $1 a pack in many countries and $5 a pack in the US, that's a bargain. More than 2 cartons per traveler, go ahead and declare them, pay the 10 bucks per carton.

http://www.ttb.gov/tax_audit/atftaxes.shtml Here's the link to the taxes. I've declared them before, they have never charged me. They just make me verity that they are mine and not for resale. I think the most I ever brought in was a 5-carton duty free package. No hiding it, I was carrying the dam thing.

Safe trip!
