Hmmm..... yes..... okay, this form asks for a cell for texting. Apparently, it is assumed these days that everyone has a "smart" device and even high speed Internet at home. Yea, no. I got cheap speeds at 2M for $25/month, due to not having high income for 10M. My cell is a prepaid for emergencies, and texting is not a feature that works well, in or out. If I skip the cell, will they email me instead?

The e-notification form is optional and for your convenience only. You will receive paper copies of all communication whether you include the g-1145 or not. So, write your e-mail, your phone or both. If you write both, they will send to both.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

As above poster suggest as well as guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide, this form is clearly optional.

Open a 201st tab in Firefox and get a google voice number and have it text that, its free

I think i've only gotten a text once and during USCIS part and thats easier to just track on the site anyhow.

You do not have to list a phone number. Just put your email. They will use that to inform you of when they receive your petition. You will then get the hard copy receipt later in the mail.

There is nothing to initiate. No response to make. You submit the petition. They send you a receipt notice with your receipt number. Then you wait for either an RFE, denial or approval. It extends absolutely nothing to wait for the receipt in the mail.

I know the form is optional, but I am going to do it. I do have a Google number, although texts from it not work either, and of course they have no tech support. As long as I get it in my email then so I can forward it and print.
