My parents and I have decided to petition for my sister who lives in Mexico. We know that it will take a long time, but the longer we take to file the petition, the more time it will take. My parents are US citizens now as well as me (well over 21). My questions is, would it be better for me, as a brother to file the petition or my parents to file the petition for her? or will it take the same amount of time?

Looking at the latest Visa Bulletin, it appears she will be eligible sooner as your sister than as her parent's daughter.

Other factor's I don't have the answer to:

1. If your parents apply, it maters whether she is married or not. I am not not sure what happens if you apply unmarried and get married, does the category just change or does the application become invalid?

2. Is there a reason you both can't apply and just use whatever one comes current first?

She would just change categories if she marries.

Everybody files and go with the one that comes up first.
