Step 6: Submitting Documents to the NVC

Hi all....I was looking ahead to see what we need to do and collect ahead of time, I see that Step 6 shows that following:

Step 6: Submit Documents to the NVC

After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of your forms, financial evidence, and photocopies of your original civil documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

Since my Husband lives in India and I am a USC, is it ok if he emails me all of the documents that he would need to submit and I can put his documents plus my AOS application + documents all in one package to submit or does he have to snail mail the photocopies to me? He would be submitting photocopies anyway so I'm trying to streamline that through email? Otherwise, any advise on the best way to get everything in one package?

Yes, you need to send photocopies to NVC anyways so sending it via e-mail would make it much quicker.

Yes I would just have him email you them as you only need to submit photocopies. You only need originals for the interview which he will have anyways. I know I don't really trust the mail system in Pakistan as things seem to easily get lost. I'm sure India is the same.

Thanks all. I completely forgot that he would need to submit 2 color photographs (passport photo size). He doesn't have easy access to scan everything. I'm going to have him FedEx me everything so at least we're able to track the package.

@1voice1life - yes, very true......never sending anything by regular mail from/to/within India that has sensitive/confidential documents like this would have.
