Iv looked all over my city (Nashville) for help and have been too 3 separate lawyers all saying don't trust anyone else and charging anywhere from 2500-4500$. I have issues with some of the questions and how I cant check certain boxes on some of the forms even though i fall into several categories. Who can I go to to just have the paper work looked over? I dont need people to do do it for me, just look over the paperwork and make sure its filled out the the best of my ability. Filling for my wife by the way and im ex-military.

1. Not understanding anything on the timeline.

2. She has all her files filled out, its my files im not understanding. Most importantly in part 6. I am retired, student and unemployed, but i cant only check 1 box. My Income comes from my GI bill, and retirement. The between GI bill and retirement Im within the threshold for supporting her. However, it just started so I dont have any proof of income the records the past few months. SO i guess my question is how do I reflect my income in part 6, and even tho its enough should i still use my cosponsor?

Are you filing for her to receive a visa to enter the US? Is she already in the US? If so, what visa did she enter the US with?

You seem to be asking about the I-864. You list your current income amount and then provide proof that you receive that income through benefits letters, bank statements to prove deposit amounts, 1099s, etc. If you cannot prove the income, then yes, you should use a joint sponsor.

If you want someone to look over the paperwork, then you find a friend who can do it.

If your want someone professionally to look it over, then you need to hire a lawyer and pay for full service. No lawyer will allow you, an amateur, to do the work and look it over and assume all the legal liabilities. Do you ask the plumber or electrician to look over your work? No, it's the same thing for lawyers.

If you hire anyone else not licensed to practice law, then you are one your own. This is like hiring an unlicensed plumber or electrician.

You can find the instructions to the form in uscis website

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

Read instructions

My husband is retired he only marked retired and he showed proof of income from retirement

But instructions say part 6 you can select all boxes that apply to you(the sponsor)

If you are using the older edition, then it would be #6a, but on the newest edition, available on the USCIS website, it starts at Part 6 #3. The new edition is not required until Oct. 6th, but people receiving RFEs have been asked for the newest edition already, so you might want to go ahead and use the latest version. http://www.uscis.gov/i-864

Anyway, on either edition it is the same. Above those questions it states, "Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size, including, in certain conditions, the intending immigrant. (See Instructions.) Please indicate name, relationship and income."

If you have someone in your household that is a qualifying household member and is willing to provide an I-864A for you to use their income to combine with yours to meet the requirement, then you would fill them in there. If using assets of the intending immigrant, they do not need an I-864A.

Your income source and current individual annual income is listed above that section, where it asks for yours. At the end of all that, #10 on old version and #15 on the new, that would be where all incomes are added up and the annual household income is entered. If your income is the only income being used, which is the typical situation, then you just repeat your current annual individual income from before.
