DS-160 Receipt number!

I think I got myself into a lot of trouble!

I filled out the DS-160, even submitted it so I can`t make a change to it, and I now realize I entered my USCIS number as a receipt number instead of my NVC number.

Will this be a problem?

If so how can I fix it, do I make a new DS-160 or will this cause even more problems?

Hope someone can englighten me!

I know others have done this in the past and it hasn't been an issue for them.

It should be the USCIS receipt number but your NVC case number is linked to the receipt number so it shouldn't cause much of an issue. I know others have done that and been fine but that is with the London embassy. It may differ by embassy on whether or not they wish to nitpick.

For the DS-160 it should be the case file number you received from NVC

You'll be fine.

It just wants to tie that application to your case, both the USCIS and the NVC case number are both tied to your case, you just need either or. Either one work, I believe that we used the USCIS number.

So far after doing a lot of searching after I put in the USCIS number, I haven't seen anyone penalized for using either number.

No it won't be an issue. The CO can/will update it during the interview if needed.
