No "toys" here. I should have had enough sense to listen to the advice of my three cousins in the Seattle area (all from different families btw). But NO ....... I didn't listen to my cousins.

Hey, "the word is out" in the Northwest - Yankee go home, or don't even bother to come in the first place.

Canada doesn't need any tourism anyway so why not put ass____ border guards at the Northwest crossings.

There are many places in the world that welcome Americans, unfortunately Canada is not presently one of them.

But that is not your problem, it is not the problem of the average Canadian citizen.

It's YOUR Government "Policy" in action - limiting and restricting and carefully examining border crossers in the Northwest. And all this checking for for petty 30 year old misdemeanors is just "upping the ante" on turning away Americans tourists at the border. #######?

Like I said, my trips during the 1970's were great - great mostly by the friendliness and hospitality of ordinary British Columbians and Albertans. But a lot has changed since then apparently.

So why come here and create this LONG thread about why we should NOT go to Canada just because YOU had a bad experience? Pretty simple I think.....if you don't like it, JUST DON'T GO DUDE!!

You had a bad day...sorry about that. I've had a bad time coming through one of the airports in Canada. It's certainly NO reason not to ever go there again and it seems that everyone else who's posted in this thread feels the same way. Time to pack up your toys and get over it.

Maybe this the "tourist" that Canada is looking for?

beammeup, the Canadian government is acting in accordance with the policies of the American government. If you want Canada to ignore 30 year old crimes, get the American government to do the same. This one's being driven by the U.S.'s desire for security.

Of course, you could find more impoverished nations to go to, where they're corrupt enough that your dollars can buy you some comfort. Hard to deal with people you can't buy off, I know.
