@Greenbaum Sorry to drudge up this super old post but I'm wondering if you remember when did you get the 2nd case number for the K2?  My case is currently in transit to the Embassy but I still only show 1 case number (my fiancé's son's name was listed on the petition) and I'm getting worried because the consulate said adding the child to the petition is done at the NVC stage..

You'll have one case number but with sub numbers for each person contained on the I-129f. So for instance the Embassy in the Philippines is MNLXXXXXXXXXX which would be mom the next number would be MNLXXXXXXXXXX XX (01) for a daughter/son and if you had another son/daughter they would be 02 etc. Look over your NOA2 it should be at the bottom.

Thank you for your response.  I don't see any numbers on the NOA2 besides at the top of it :( with the WAC number :(

Case numbers are based on petitions.  One petition, one case number.  A case number can have multiple Visa applications based on one petition.  The consulate may not have understood what you were asking.

Thank you payxibka for taking the time to answer.  I was hoping this is true because I only have 1 number :(

MNL won't be in the NOA2 .. you won't receive your MNL # until at NVC ...

MNL isn't issued until at NVC, so won't be on the NOA2

I guess not since NVC assigns the case numbers and USCIS does not so it wouldn't be on the NOA2 but on the email/mail of the case number sent by NVC. Ahhhh got it. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry for the wrong information. Sometimes my mind get behind my fingers and that's what you get. Incorrect information. Well now we know. Like Hank said it will get easier soon and that time you will be in control.

No worries Greenbaum, you have been very helpful throughout the process.  And just in-case anyone has this same question in the future, when my case got set from "In-Transit" to "Ready" in the ceac case tracker, that's when I was given the two numbers.
