If they are not citizens of a visa free country, they would have to apply for a visa to enter the US. If this doesn't work out, an alternative would be to have two weddings, one non-legally binding one in your fiances country and another in the US.

Ok, I have a question in this area .. How long does it take to get a visa for the family members? We have to be married in the first 90 days so at what point should the visa application be filed?

Apply asap.

Depending on the country some visitors require visa's, some do not.

And then there is the issue that some countries citizens for obvious reasons have difficulty getting visitors visa's.

So once you have a date, they should apply.

My mother also wants to join our wedding in NC, USA. She told me we should give her a wedding invitation and she'll apply for a visa. I dunno how this works though. We're still working on our I-129F to be sent next week.

Officially married (by court) and wedding are two different things.

  1. Get married by the court (depending on your state/county, depends on where that is).. to satisfy your K1..
  2. Then have a wedding later, when you can schedule it and arrange visas for all.

You don't want things to 'come up' while you're trying to have a wedding.. it's stressful enough w/out visa headaches..

I know some religions may 'require' a holy person to conduct/be present for a marriage - this can still happen with a court wedding and the ceremony/wedding at a later time - at least for many. I don't know that I'd want to have two weddings..but certainly a celebration in Germany and USA for those that cant come is going to happen.

Best of luck.. =) Take your time..it'll be ok..
