I have just received my "case closed" email on July 6th. Interview not set yet for Montreal. Can anyone please tell me what the U.S. divorce decree looks like? My American husband submitted a 27 page thing that I guess came from when he got his divorce and I have got some sort of "certificate" looking thing that he sent away for. Is this what they will be looking for when I go to that interview. My husband has no clue what the "divorce decree" is. He thinks its the 27 page document that I guess he got after court was done??? I have a certificate that says "certificate of dissolution Declaration of Invalidity of Marriage or Legal Separation"...It is a certified copy (with a seal) it has a tick in the "dissolution of marriage" spot. the date of the decree and the county of where I guess it all happened (Spokane, Washington). Anyone have a clue if this is what they want or the 27 page court document or is there something else I had better get quickly??

Thanks.

My husband had both from his first go-round - the certificate with a raised seal and then the order which was a multi page description of the agreement with regard to kids, support etc.. We only submitted the certificate.

We never had a certificate with a seal. We submitted the last page of his divorce documents that said final divorce decree that had the judge's signature with the I-130. (well it was a photocopy of the certified copy that his ex sent him. ) I took the certified copy to the interview and it wasn't asked for.

If you have something with an official seal. USE IT! :D

Sarah for Washington State you will want the entire 27 page document. The Front will have a blue stamp and the back of the last page will have a blue stamp. This varies from state to state but I can speak from recent experience

Oh and congrats on the Case Closed!

Sarah provide them with whatever the state that the divorce took place in issues. For example Pennsylvania issues a 2 page Blue and White document with a seal. Florida issues a 1 page white document
