Mobile Phone in Embassy?

I was told when I went to the US embassy to leave my phone outside, they are not allowed in the embassy. I saw them taking peoples phones away and giving them a slip to reclaim them later but they will not let you take your phone inside.

Check the embassy page for London, but probably same as Germany.

In Frankfurt they sent people away who had mobile phones.

There are no lockers - in Berlin and in Frankfurt you have to leave your bag at some random private fast-food kiosk ...

Take as little as possible. No USB stick! No CD! No mp3 player! No camera! No headphones!

So that is a Yes to having my phone in the embassy?

Or a YES to not allowing it inside the embassy?

It doesnt seem to be on that Prohibited List

Why don't you just check the embassy guide in the link above?!?! That's where I found out that for the Swedish embassy, you can leave your mobile in a locker to claim it back after the interview.

Dec 21st 2015 - 221(g) issued at interview for updated forms


Jan 13th 2016 - Mailed our reply to the 221(g) to the US Embassy, received and CEAC updated the next morning


Jan 20th 2016 - Embassy require more in-depth info on asset for i-864


Feb 1st 2016 - Sent more in-depth info on assets as requested. Received the next morning


Feb 16th 2016 - Visa has been issued :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:



In the US


April 5th 2016 - POE Newark. No questions asked.


April 14th 2016 - SSN received


May 10th 2016 - First day at my new job :dancing:


May 27th 2016 - Green Card received


June 7th 2016 - Got my Texas driver's license

Well I did check the link above but other posters above had made me skeptical, thanks for clearing that one up for me guys!

It's embassy specific and the others were from other countries. Not even sure why they would answer in the UK forum.

I had my interview in March 2015 - I got in with a phone. They say don't use it while you're waiting, because you might miss your ticket number being called up, but I did anyway and glanced up every time I heard a "ping!". Just don't have it out when you're walking up to your interview.
