My (Swiss) husband and I (USA) are living in the Netherlands where DCF is not available.

We applied for a CR-1 through the Chicago Lockbox and wanted to ask if our application will receive an automatic expedite process because we're both living abroad?

Also, looking at the VisaJourney timelines for people living in the Netherlands, we saw that the average time from File to Interview is about 1 year.

Does that mean we don't get the expedited process?

Also neither of us is Dutch, but we live in NL for >6months. We're not sure if we would classify our case as Dutch or Swiss (husband's passport)...Anyone have any ideas or similar situations?

Thank you for helping!

there's a topic about this - try the advanced search tool from a PC...

search terms 'auto expedite overseas'

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I cannot answer your questions about auto expedite, but yes, the expected timeline for an IR1/CR1 is between 8 to 14 months depending on what is happening at the USCIS. We looked like we were headed for 12-13 month journey....then we got case complete in less than 30 days and then the interview was scheduled in less than 30 days after that....so Moustafa was able to immigrate right at the 10 month mark. However, shortly after we finished the NVC's computers went down causing problems with the 260's, and then visa printing stopped at the embassies which assumed added time to many people's journeys.

I would classify your case at Dutch since that is where your interview is taking place. Moustafa is Egyptian, but his interview was at Abu Dhabi Embassy.

Good luck!!

This is the link:

I think you should be expedited if you both put the foreign address on your petition. I read that link all the way through, but I don't remember seeing exactly same case as yours. Usually the USC lives in a home country of beneficiary. Still, I think you should be expedited. We were expedited, all journey (from the date we sent out the documents to the interview date) took us 8 months.
