Hi all,

After weeks of trying to reach the NVC, since I didn't receive the NOA2 letter. I finally got through to them. the rep told me that my case had been sent to the embassy in my fiance's country (Ecuador) and provide me with the case number (GYQ*****). I asked my information be updated with my new mailing address and she said she had no further information and all my dealings are now to be with the US embassy in Ecuador.

My fiance and I have started collecting the required documentation mentioned above.

My question is, what do I do now?

Wait for the NVC's confirmation letter?

Wait, for the embassy to contact either me or my fiance?

Contact the embassy to let them know about the change of address?

Start making the Dr. appointment?

All of the above?

Not sure what my next step should be, If anybody can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,

And thank you for the response, however there is conflicting information.

When I called the NVC, I was told the all contact now should be with the embassy in Guayaquil, but I have not receive the official NOA2 letter, but they provided a case number.

Now in the website it says:

To wait to be contacted by the NVC as they will schedule the appointment??

http://guayaquil.usconsulate.gov/step-2-national-visa-center-nvc-case-preparation3.html

I see people, filling out and sending the DS-160 application, even before receiving a case number the (GYQ***) number.

This is all very confusing, too many contradicting information and the fact that I moved right after they sent the case to NVC is not helping either.

Can anybody clarify this for me please. Thanks

It is good that you finally got your DOS Case file number.

However, you will need to provide a copy of your I-129F NOA2 petition approval letter later on at the AOS segment of your visa journey. Some folks have successfully substituted a copy of the email petition approval letter. I would suggest that you continue to obtain an actual NOA2 letter. To obtain a replacement copy from USCIS costs $405.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Ok, so going through my mail today I see I just received my NOA2 today :)

Should I start filling out DS-160 or wait for the NVCs letter, or for the embassy to contact me?

Sorry about all these questions, but I want to do this right and this is my first time at this.

Thanks!

For K1 visas you should follow this: http://guayaquil.usc...nt-package.html

You can fill out your DS160 and sign up here https://usvisa-info.com/to schedule your interview. Do not wait for instructions from NVC as that is for spousal visas

Ok, so I read somewhere including in the steps in this link

https://prezi.com/gc9qnxdfnt0p/step-by-step-k1-visa-process/

that I should not submit any documents unless I hear from the consulate.

Does anyone else have any advise?

This is really stressing me out, I'm starting to wonder if I should have just paid a lawyer..

basically,

with the consular casefile #,

look up status in the ceac web portal.

when it flips to 'ready',

go pay the visa application fee,

fill out the ds-160,

and wait a week.

then follow the instructions on that last link.

to 'get a K-1 visa',

you do the minimum that i've described, without waiting on NVC letter or IV Unit contact.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

As far as planning ahead, it definitely helps if the petitioner is also on the consular premises during visa interviews in Guayaquil.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks! you guys are awesome..
So I found the ceac web portal and entered the case number, two records came back one with a 01 and another with a 02 at the end of the number I was given, is this normal?
Both records are in Ready status, both had same creation date, however 01 has an updated date of 26-Jun-2015 and 02 has an updated date of 30-Jun-2015
I will try to fill out the DS160 application tonight, but please let me know if anybody knows if the two records might be just because there were some updates to the case, or are there two different case numbers and I am missing the last two digits...

Great news, I got the email confirmation to proceed with the packet today! :D

I am filling out the DS160 today and will pay the fees.

My question at this point is, at what point does she has to go for medical exams? I am guessing that they will give her some sort of letter stating that she has had the exams and that is what she would have to include in the packet, because if I am not mistaken I think I read that the results would go directly to the embassy.

So, should she schedule an appointment asap?

Thanks all for the great support!
