Will my 'chest infection' reduce my chances of passing my medical exam, its on wednesday i booked it on Thursday. Its at london knightsbridge doctors, they have a three working day policy or a £95 charge of cancellation of appointment.

PLEASE HELP!! Im afraid that if i go with a chest infection, i will waste £250 + travelling expenses (on medical exam and journey to and from)

If it is TB then obviously that is a big deal, less so if it is a cold.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I had a really bad cold when I went in for my medical. The doctor literally said "They don't actually care about your health. As long as you don't have some contagious disease they've eradicated, aren't crazy and aren't a criminal, you're in"

I have known others who went to Knightsbridge clinic and were told they had to come back when their chest cleared up because they could not get a good x-ray. They will complete the rest of the exam but may put the results on hold for several weeks and have you return. Call them Monday morning and maybe they will be lenient and reschedule you.

What kind of "chest infection"? If it's something that effects your lungs they will probably re-schedule your x-rays as it won't give them good pictures. If it's pneumonia for example, call and talk to them.

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice. Ive decided to cancel the appointment. I emailed them telling them i had a chest infection and advise me on the matter. I said i would preferably like to reschedule the appointment. My appointment was on Wed 1/7/2015. She said that i should let her know by tonight or else i would incur a £95 charge for cancellation/changes to appointment

Hope this helps others in case they need to change or cancel appointments due to illness. I managed to get my appointment for 1/7/15 just under a week ago so i dont think it will take too long to reschedule another .

When I went I had a fever and some kind of man flu. All the doctor said was that I was the first person he did that day to register a temperature. (Also had high blood pressure but it was to do with nerves so he wasn't worried about that)

I guess rescheduling is a safe bet - get yourself some antibiotics and plenty of rest :)
