Auto accidents vs shootings

Is this a confessional?

I would be interested to know in how geography, profession and economic background plays into these cases.

For instance, most people I know have drivers, and/or live in major cities, and/or have professional reasons for not wanting to be caught drunk driving.

Also those involved in shootings/killings were involved in transactions concerning large amounts of money.

Re poodles? They were bred to hunt. Kill'em all.

Poodles are a scourge that need to be dealt with, but still nowhere near the killer that guns are.

I know 172 people who were shot by irresponsible gun owners in the last month alone, 124 of them died. I have been shot at numerous times on a daily basis, by nuts with guns, but fortunately have been able to escape harm up to this point.

I know of at least 373 people who have been viciously attacked and maimed by Poodles. 286 of them have succumbed to their injuries.

Thankfully, I do not know of anyone, including myself, that has ever been involved in a motor vehicle accident. Motor vehicles are an extremely safe means of transportation.

I've been in 3 accidents. No serious damage, thank God. I've had a few friends who've been shot. Some made it, others didn't. I've been in close proximity of gun shots, running from being shot at, and in the role of ASF, almost had to pull my 9mm and shoot someone. Not a good feeling, and I'm glad the situation was defused before it went any further.

i have been in a couple car accidents, but before i was ever in a car accident - a kid in my 7th grade class shot himself in the side messing around with his parents gun. he lived.

What conclusions can be drawn from this thread? We have a few people who had experiences with gun violence and everyone except Jacque has had an auto accident. So Teddy and Jacque are liars is my first conclusion. And far more people have experienced auto accidents than gun incidents. Just about everyone knows someone who was killed in an auto accident.

So why not ban cars and save a lot of lives?

They use cars .... we cannot ban them . Here is a case in NJ

An appeals court last week upheld a previous ruling that a man could be denied a permit to purchase firearms because of his wife’s criminal history.

The two-judge panel found that the Burlington County man, whose name was withheld due to privacy restrictions, should not be granted a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card, which is required under state law to buy a gun, citing that his Constitutional right to own weapons was “subject to reasonable limitations.”

The court maintained that his possession of firearms in the same home as a convicted felon would allow her access and create an unacceptable threat to public health, safety, and welfare, as reported by the Associated Press.

According to the appellate court’s decision, the woman, who had three prior felony convictions on drug charges and drunk driving, was also the subject of a domestic violence complaint in 2011 reported by her husband.

“Specifically, the judge found that [the man’s] wife’s background raised serious concerns about her living in a house with firearms, even if owned by her husband, who states he will keep them locked up and out of her control,” noted the court.
