Just to clarify on paperwork needed to AOS

Hi all,

Now that my visa was approved, and seeing as the plan is for me to move to the US within a few weeks, I'm looking into what paperwork I'll need to take with me from my home country to use later when we file for AOS.

From my research, all I need is a copy of my birth certificate (we can get an international version, here) and the DS-3205 copy (or whatever that number is) that I received at the medical, correct?

The divorce decree is NOT needed, seeing as I'll be providing a marriage certificate, right?

Make sure you bring any divorce paperwork. Just because you will be married, and one branch of the government here already deemed it legal based on the K1 application doesn't mean the branch that processes the AOS will get it. You also may want to do any translations before you come over.

Ok, I wasn't sure on that one.

Should it be sent off with the AOS paperwork, then?

Also, an unrelated question: if the visa is stamped on my passport, which has my maiden name on it, and I need it for travel once AP comes in, which name should I use for tickets?

And what about getting a new passport issued under my married name? What happens to the visa and other stamps on the current maiden-name passport?
