Can't reply to "RFE" quickly enough

I'm waiting for my AOS and got a letter in the mail that I need to send in a updated I-693 medical examination. It wasn't the yellow official RFE, just a white letter from the New York field office. The due date is May 22nd.

I had my medical exam done two weeks ago but still haven't got the results back. I called the medical center today and they said they call on Thursdays about the results so I would have to wait at least one more week. In the letter USCIS said they're expecting a reply by next Friday. Should I call USCIS and explain that I can't reply on time? I hope this won't make things take longer or mess anything up.

Definitely respond in one way or another to the RFE, infopass or call. Also tell the medical place to get the dang thing done that you have a

deadline, 3 weeks is too long.

What visa are you adjusting from?

I called the USCIS customer service number and they just said to do an infopass and it might help. I doubt they'd be able to get me in early next week but I guess I can try that if it would help. Is there a better number to call and ask for an extension? The usual number just had a drone who didn't hear what I was saying at all, I'd just want to let them know it's gonna be late probably but can't seem to get through to anyone who is interested in the least.

I read somewhere that I could also send a letter to the address to explain why it will be late. And include a copy of the receipt from the medical center.

K-1. I sent the AOS almost a year ago.

Here's the full letter I received. Like I said it doesn't look like the official yellow RFE form, just a one page letter on white paper:

Dear Applicant:

You submitted an I-693 Report of Medical... in support of your I-485. As of June 1, 2014, USCIS has limited the validity for all Forms I-693, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. Based on these new regulations, your I-693 has expired.

Please send an updated I-693 Report of Medical.... within 30 days from the date of this notice.

Address

Thank You,

They want a new one because yours is over a year old. Did you get another medical when you got the I-693, or just had the vaccinations transcribed, since you are adjusting from a K-1?

You better make sure you have it in writing when they tell you at infopass that you can send it later or you may find yourself with AOS denied.

I would for sure take a letter from the medical place explaining that the results are not in yet and are expected to be in by a certain date.

Again, 3 weeks is ridiculous.
