Hello,

I just checked my status from NVC and it says READY. I thought I got all the documents I needed. I-134 and supporting documents, Intent to Marry both sent to my fiancée in the Philippines. My fiancée had her NBI clearance, cenomar and birth certificate from NSO. I was reading an article earlier that I will need a police certificate. I thought I read all the VJ guidelines and didn't find anything (maybe I overlook) that I need a police clearance because my fiancée worked in S. Korea for more than 6 months. Please send me a link or guidelines needed before the interview. I hope I can find a complete guideline or requirements to know the COMPLETE requirements before the interview. I hope I am not missing something anymore. VJ please add a guideline for the requirements of the beneficiary in each country specified if it is possible.

Thank you in advance

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching age 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html.

i can only assume that your gal was an OFW that worked in S. Korea. Yes, she is going to need a PC from SK. If she has worked in any other countries and has stamps in her passport from the countries she is going to need a PC from each of these countries. My gal was an OFW and had worked in 3 different countries and she needed PCs from each of these countries.

Best of luck!

Vol,

Do you have a list of the waived countries?

Embassy instructions letter states the police certificate is required. Follow the embassy instructions letter for all requirements, use the letter as your checklist. There is a link to the instructions letter and all requirements for the K-1 process in Manila below, follow the flashing red arrow.

South Korea is not a waiver country. There is a link to the Dept of State website for waiver countries below.... flashing arrow ;)

For answers relating to the visa process in Manila jump over to the Philippines forum, you will get answers relating to the Philippines. ;)http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

How can be S. Korea be not a waiver country? I just read one of your links information which says:

{Here is a link to info regarding Police Certificates, some countries will not issue them except in person so the police certificate is waived for those countries by the embassy.}

SOME COUNTRIES WILL NOT ISSUE THEM EXCEPT IN PERSON SO THE P.C. IS WAIVED.

Then when I look at the department of state, it says under S. Korea that you apply a P.C. in person.

So does that mean that we don't have to have a P.C. Is that correct ?

My gal was either able to get the PC in person or have a friend pick up the PC for her since she was no longer "in country." She or her friend had to pick up the PC in each country that she worked in. If it is possible to get PCs from embassies in the Phil. of those countries, I don't know about it or the process.
