Supplying additional evidence without official RFE from USCIS

Is it possible to send in additional evidence while your case is pending at USCIS? I don't have an RFE but I wanted to provide another document I think is important to their decision. If someone h as done it, how do you send it in? Just address it to the service center and include both names and case number on it?

Or will they disregard anything they didn't ask for after they have the case in hand?

I'd suggest NOT doing it - you don't know if it'll get to the right place and especially, if you'll even need it.

Most people start doubting themselves after they send out the paper work but I think it's better to wait. If USCIS needs something additional from you then they'll tell you exactly what it is.

btw, you don't have a case number yet - that comes later when your case is forwarded from NVC to the embassy.

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

If the WAC07xxxxxxx is not a case number then what is it?

YMMV

I second that. My understanding is that if they issue a RFE, they supply a special envelope that ensures that the additional documents find their way to the rest of documentation.

However, if I decided to send the document anyway, I'd make sure that I only send a copy, that I include an appropriate cover letter... and I would still be prepared for a RFE.

Okay I guess the consensus is don't do it. Perhaps I won't get an RFE but I'm begining to wonder why the case is taking longer than others filed at the same timeframe as ours and there isn't anything unusual about our petition.

Every case is different so comparing your case to another case doesn't do any good. Sending evidence without an RFE almost guarantees it will never meet up with your case. Hang tight - it will come.
