Hi, I am looking to ship around 5-8 boxes of about 25 kg each, of kitchenware, shoes, bags, clothes, and other what nots to Los Angeles, California. For those who had already left the UK, can you please recommend any good and reliable shipping companies around? Preferably one without exorbitant fees? Thank you :)

I don't know if its an option for you but i looked into a few places and it worked out cheaper for me to put stuff in luggage and pay the additional bags

british airways give you 22kgs so works out quite well! :)

actually i checked that as well, but i could only put 1 additional bag. I am going to need at least 4-5 :( . As I have no family here to leave some of my things.

Excess baggage, you can always take more at additional cost.

Is that with BA? You can take more than one additional bag, but it's £120 for each additional one. I forget the upper limit, but it is working out cheaper for us to pay the 120 than to ship and pay the additional associated fees. Did you book a code share?

United check in used to be next to Nigerian Airlines at Heathrow, you would not believe the amount of excess luggage that was being checked in.

With some judicious packing skills you can pay for one extra checked bag and still manage to bring 200lbs of kit with you (I have done this on every trip I've made to the US.)

It is possible to get 50lb of books in a laptop sized bag, and also to remain within size limits for the carry on bag whilst packing it heavily. Two checked bags of 50lb each are easy with large bags. Remembering not to pack anything remotely questionable in carry on luggage is a different matter though!! ;)

I'm still looking in to different ways and getting more confused by the minute haha

Hi, I'm taking 2 extra baggages with me, and I've also sent 2 5cubic feet boxes via Anglo Pacific. Although, I'm not expecting my boxes for another 2 months as I've opted for Sea freight door-to-door delivery. The 2 baggages contain all the important stuffs and some of my other belongings that are not so important that I can't live without are the things I've sent off for the sea freight. It's just that I have nobody to leave my stuffs here in the UK. And storage is not an option since I wouldn't be coming back, except for a visit, and even then it won't be for the next 2 years. Hope this helps.
