(L) This post is for the people who have detailed thier journey so that others may find it easier.

My visa was approved yesterday, my partner and I are just beyond happy right now!

So thank you to all of you who build this site, you made our experience so much better (L)

We are now waiting for my passport to be sent back, what will be sent with the passport? A sealed package for customs?

I got so excited I left the consulate without asking a single useful question!

Congratulations!

Yes, they will give you a sealed package and will say on the outside "DO NOT OPEN" . You will need to give that sealed envelope to the immigration officer when you get to the POE in United States. Bring that package with you in your carry on handbag. You dont want to lose that package.

When at POE, they will send you to a secondary room to wait and there they will open your package and review your K1 papers and give you a i-94 stamp record on your passport. Keep in mind that sometimes the waiting at the secondary room may take up to 2 hours. So take that into account if booking a connection flight.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, that's very helpful information! :goofy:

It's a 3 flight trip to my husband to be's house so I have made sure my POE has a 5 hour lay over.
