What is needed for US citizen to marry in Mexico?

Hello!

I am a US citizen and will be marrying my fiancé in June of this year in Guadalajara Jalisco. Once we marry we are going to start the I-130 but I was wondering what is required from me to be able to marry in Mexico. From what I'm aware is that my birth certificate has to be translated and apostille and since I live in California the apostille can only be done in Los Angeles or Sacramento. Also, the platicas that are required for civil wedding can be waived since I am not living in Mexico. I am aware we do need medical examinations. Do i provide my original birth certificate for all this or do i get a copy?

I'm not sure if I have the correct information or if im missing something.

Hope someone can help me out with this, I don't want to go to Mexico ready for the wedding and find out I was missing documents.

i did this actually back in 2007 and was amazed at the seemingly high stack of paperwork that was needed to get married. if it was me, i would have your fiance check with sre to ensure you have everything you need. i remember the physical, the aids test, my birth certificate, the application at the registro civil and the letter. once approved from sre (i think) you only have 30 days to get married or you have to do it all over.

a little old but still pretty reliable, here's a link which provides a good place to start. I do remember i had to schedule the wedding. (something to keep in mind).

I believe it needs to be a certified copy of your birth certificate. Not sure how California is, but make sure you provide the long form of your birth certificate, not short form.
