my co-sponsor (in the army) says only half of his income is taxable and hence shows on the tax returns so his $22k( shown on the returns) qualifies for 3 household members(including me)..Anybody knows how it works for folks in the army?

You would want a statement from him as to why he was not required to file taxes on the other half of his income, and evidence of said income (paystubs, bank account for the last 12 months with incoming transactions etc).

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Was he deployed? Deployed military are not charged tax on their income during deployment to a warzone.

Also they are not taxed on their BAH (basic allowance for housing) or other special perks that being in the military entails.
