Theoretically, no. As a K-1 visa holder you can file for EAD on your arrival. The expiration of the EAD will be the same as the date of your I-94 (90 days after your arrival). Since it takes 60-90 days to receive the EAD it is practically useless and a waste of money.

So in reality the answer is yes, if you want to work more than not at all to a few weeks. The good news is if you file with or after filing the I-485 there is no additional cost to apply for the EAD. It will take 60-90 days to arrive and be valid for one year. Of course once you receive the green card the EAD is no longer needed.

True. But since GC's are currently taking like a year to be processed, if adjusting from K-1, the EAD & AP is just a great idea.
