London interview: original docs

Pardon me! Yes, we have filed the i-129 last January. I have received a letter from the immigration visa unit in london stating my LND number. I am just waiting for the docs my fiance had sent through the post for me to send copies of the documents to the NVC (as stated in the website as we had filed after Nov 2014.) Done the D-160 online and will be going to the Medical on the 23rd of this month.

I have never been married either here or in the Philippines ( BritCit by naturalization) I even got a cenomar from the Phils. And maybe it's the information overload from reading from the numerous threads that I got the idea of the Cert of No Impediment.

Okay, I understand now. A K1 does not send ANYTHING to the NVC. Your case has already left the NVC and is in London now or you wouldn't have received a letter from the IV Unit. I think you are reading the process for spouse visas which do process at NVC.

Your K1 instruction page is here http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/fiance_instructions.html.

All your documents (police certificate, birth certificate, etc) are taken to the interview.

And back to your real question. If you have never been married, there is nothing regarding that to take to the interview. It is only of you were previously married that you would take your divorce decree to the interview to show you are legally free to marry. I have never even heard of the Cert of No Impediment, so perhaps that is something Manilla asks for, but I don't think London will require it if you were never married.

I see where you got confused. The document list is for spouses and fiancés. This does not apply to fiancés because you atre not processed at NVC. DISREGARD the following paragraphs completely. They do not apply to K1,

Applications processed by the National Visa Center (NVC) -

If you submitted your original documents to the NVC prior to November 12, 2014, you will not be required to obtain additional copies. You should check the list below to ensure that you have obtained all applicable documents. If any applicable documents were not submitted to the NVC, you should be prepared to present them at the time of your interview.

From November 12, 2014: Applicants are required to submit copies of their documents to NVC and bring the original document to the visa interview. The original Affidavit of Support, Form I-864 is still required by NVC and will be forwarded to the Immigrant Visa Unit with your file and available to the consular officer at the interview.

Yes, that's the document my previous post was referring to. As far as the document you posted before, I don't know the webpage or context that comes from so can't comment about the It doesn't look like a US embassy London reference.

We are cross posting over each other. Use that London checklist. Forget the paragraphs and go to the list of documents. If something on that list applies to you, then take it to the interview as an original document. The no impediment is not on the list.

You no longer have to bring a photocopy of the same original document along, even though it says that. Most who have interviewed lately say they hand back the duplicate photocopy and say they don't collect those anymore.

When I rang the local register's office about the Cert Of No Impediment, they do process that document but she wasn't too sure if it applies to getting married in USA. The person I spoke to stated that the CoNI is applicable to marriage in EU and outside UK. So I was trying to ring the US embassy for any info, but wasn't successful in doing so. As no one else here in UK has obtained such a doc, and were approved for their K-1 visas, I guess it's not needed after all.

I guess I was just overly cautious in getting all docs ready as I don't want to have further delays or even a rejected visa application...

Thank you! Thank you for shedding light to my otherwise fried brain cells lol! Will take into consideration your latest suggestion. :). Hopefully all will be well with my medical exam next week, then I can't wait for the interview. Crossing my fingers that it won't take more than a month before I get a sched for the interview. ✌️

Well, my motto if erring on the side of caution is always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Just hang onto it in case for some obscure reason you need it sometime later in your life for something.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

OK ive been doing a bit of digging for this guy

the 12th November 2014 notice about sending documents to the NVC is for immigrant visas, the k-1 is a non-immigrant visa although its handled by the immigrant visa section of the embassy (IR1 or CR1). from what i read those visa applciations do some extra processing at the NVC before the info is sent to embassy.

addition the CoNI is only needed when emigrating from certain countries, im assuming it countries with high detected fraud rates of people trying to get into the USA, as an example i know when filing a k-1 from jamaica its required to have a CoNI, that pdf you were reading also was im assuming from gov.co.uk, at the top there is a notice it relates to italy and ireland

My interview is on the second week of May, I have a question though, my fiance sent me certified true copies of his tax returns and some other documents, would that suffice? because he was afraid that it may get lost in the mail. Since we still have time, should I just egg him to send the original documents?
