End of the long road: visa approved. We are very happy and relaxed. My bf went to the interview by himself, in the Dominican Republic.

Two odd issues

1) i had given him a birth certifícate of mine, just so that he had all my info. The agent saw it in his folder and said that it was not legible a needed a new one. However, i had already submitted my passport and my id has been checked earlier in the process. I was not even born in the U S.

2)they requested an extended birth certificate of his, but thats what we submitted.

They told my bf to give the documents to the curier at the time his passport with the visa is delivered.

Anybody had a similar experience?

Congratulations!!

I'm very happy everything worked out. I don't know anything about the BC part though, I did not have to submit one or myself.

Now to have to wait for the Visa to become available for pick up =-(

I check the Status everyday since our interview Monday,Says passport is still at them embassy.

It was so hard to leave my fiancee this time =-(.

I keep looking up POE JFK reviews to prepare him but i really wish i could be there because so of the reviews i read seemed like a nightmare.

I did not know that jfk had such a bad rep. I hope your fiancé will be fine.

I am going to bring him through Miami, which is an awful airport in terms of customs politeness. I hope to be with him.

They told him to wait for the passport 2 weeks. But we have tickets to fly to peru on the 19. We will be checking the updates everyday... But if we have to change the tickets, so be it.

Let us know when you get it. We are two days behind you.

Good luck to everyone else.

Hey guys, my fiancee's K1 visa finally arrived at her corresponding DHL facility in Mexico. I know that she isn't supposed to open the envelope that has her documents in it, but how does she get her passport? Will it be obviously separated from the documents she is not supposed to open? This sounds dumb, but she can open up the DHL package in order to see the packet she is not supposed to open as well as her passport? Make any sense?

any here can shed some light?
