Hi everyone, I do hope all is well?

I was looking for advice on the K1 visa process for us folk that live in the U.K

I did find something on this website just the other day with regards to a breakdown of everything that we need to take to the US Embassy in London i.e. Police checks, Medical Records etc etc there was also a breakdown of every acronym on here (there is a lot)

Yesterday my girlfriend sent the forms off to her local office in Dallas I believe so I really need to get prepared with everything I need theres just so much to take in and learn its a pretty mind-blowing and stressful task and any advice and help would be much appreciated.

not in UK forum, but did you you send proof of relationship with the forms to the Dallas Lockbox? You will need tax transcripts or completed taxes from the last 3 yrs, police reports from any country lived in for 6 mo or more, medical, and an updated letter reaffirming intent to marry within 90 days. good luck on your journey

For the K1 you only need the most recent tax return or letters confirming salary, paystubs to accompany the I-134 which is required once the case hits the embassy. London embassy will provide a list of documents they need for the interview. Other than that you need a birth certificate and the police certificate. Court records if you have ever been in trouble with the law. Medical exam. The medical exam is typically scheduled once the cases arrives at the embassy or just before as the validity of the medial impacts the validity of the visa (max 6 months),

An updated letter of intent to marry is also not needed in the majority of cases, only if the case takes a very long time to interview, say 1 year+.

If your fiance only sent in the 129f application yesterday, don't order your police certificate yet, it's only valid for a year and you don't know how long your case will take - find out how long other countries take if you've live abroad long enough to need them and then order them closer to the date you realistically will be getting NOA2, so you can hit the ground running on the London end...

If your fiancée just mailed the I-129F petition, then the only thing you need to do right now is wait. Do not start gathering any documents until the I-129F is approved, because you want those documents as recent as possible when you have the visa interview.

Being that the USC is from Idaho, there is a good chance that your petition will get forwarded to California (receipt number beginning with a WAC). If this does in fact happen, make sure to edit your timeline that your petition was handled and sent to California without a transfer (as the lockbox is a standard place that everyone files at). This keeps the data more accurate for the VJ community.

That guide is a little dated now and links have changed on the embassy website. You will find updates past post #8 of a few changes since it was written so browse to the end. But until we write a new one, it still gives the basics.

It is not too early to get your shots. They won't expire.
