How Will I Know When NVC Has Assigned a Case #?

Hello -

I have a very simple question: how will I know when the NVC has assigned us a case #? Will the NVC contact me in addition to the beneficiary? The NOA2 I received states that "The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning (beneficiary) concerning further immigrant visa processing steps." It does not say anything about contacting me.

Here's the problem: the beneficiary (my husband) is in the military service and is currently posted away where he cannot receive mail. Also, his address on the I-130 has changed. I will need the NVC to send me everything, and I can route it to him. Any advice?

Thanks.

When was your NOA2?

Once you have received the case number and invoice ID you should be able to log into the CEAC website and complete the DS-261; Online Choice of Agent form. Set yourself as the agent so you receive all written and electronic correspondence, which you can forward to your husband.

You can also email the NVC with the address change for your husband and hand over your respective email addresses requesting that all correspondence be sent to you electronically. You'll have another opportunity later in the process when completing the DS-260 to update your husband's postal address too.

Hi

so ur noa2 is march 5 ... Means nvc has not yet assigned case no.

Call them urself (petitioner) and ask them nvc case no and iin ... Takes around 45 days from case approved to case no at nvc (saying it from observing timeline) when u take ur case no and iin from nvc give them ur email and ur husband email ... Then comes ds 261 where u nominate urself as the agent

good luck

On a pc? Click the link below..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
