So, I don't understand what legal status we're in now? Is my wife still here legally? I'm assuming she is as long as papers are pending. But she doesn't really have a visa that's current that she can show to anyone! Only these papers showing that our case is pending.

CQer, we received the fingerprint notice pretty quickly - just a few weeks after we sent it in.

If you are Citizen, doesn't matter your wife is legal or not. If you are LPR, she has to have a legal status to underlying till her green card got approved, which means at least till interview.

I'm so confused about this. We applied for AOS a few months ago - got an RFE for financial info and sent it back a few weeks ago. Now USCIS website has changed to say:

Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview

As of July 9, 2015, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC-xyzzzzzzzzzz, for an interview.

I'm not sure what I was expecting to see there - but I definitely wasn't expecting to see anything about an interview! I thought they sent us a temporary green card next and then we had an interview near the end of the process about two and a half years from now.

So will we have no status until after this interview?

Thanks!

You go for the interview in order to get approved for the green card. Then 90 days before your two year conditional card expires, you apply for the 10 year card. That might or might not require another interview.

Maybe they received the paperwork you sent responding to the RFE and now that you have fulfilled all their requirements the case is ready for the scheduling of an interview, my two cents. In any case do call the USCIS and request to speak with a level two customer representative, he might not tell you anything new, but they do have access to better info than the first level guys who basically parrot whatever you can see on the USCIS' website.

I have been in 'ready to be schedule' for an interview for 7 Months!! my office is Oklahoma City, I called recently requesting for a level 2 officer, but his answers were discouraging "there's nothing wrong with your case, is just that this office is lagging regarding the processing of AOS" :crying:

Wait some more. Look at my signature below that shows my timeline. My local office is OKC...

Good luck!

My interview has been scheduled for the coming September 14th any recommendation, advice? I already got the official notice informing me of the documents I must bring with me that day, but I would like some advice from experienced members.

  • 1 year later...

I have been waiting for an interview since January 25th 2016. Its been more than a year a few months now. I have been to info pass appointment and told me that there is nothing wrong with my application and that we are just waiting for a date for the interview. In the meantime they encouraged me to travel and work using my AP/EAD combo card. Thoughts?
