I originally filled an I130 in march of 2014 and a 129f in July of 2014 got a RFE in September of 2014. Sent the information needed by December 2014 was advised that a decision will made by February 2015. Nothing was so I filled a service request and I got this message from themWe have placed your case on a processing hold, because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

Yes I am married I was told if I did both that since my husband is in Haiti that the I29f would be faster. I am not sure if I should be filling out any other forms and just wait

They needed proof that I was a US citizen even through I sent them my birth certificate. I did forget the g325 and the pictures of each of us.So I sent all of that in 12/14. thanks for helping

Filing both together allows you a slim shot at a k3 that's why they did both .

That is what I was told but do you know if I needed to fill out any other forms

Getting a k3 is like playing the lottery you need the i-129 approved first before the i-130 so I think you sound ok with all the forms you did but if your just held up in security checks they are doing its out of your control really, awful I know .

Actually per the NVC the I129F as a secondary route with a pending I130 is a waste of time, they will hold the I129F and wait for the I130 to catch up.

I just went through this, they assigned a case number and the whole nine, but held it because they knew a I130 was pending.

On another note your delay in answering the RFE may have opened you up to further scrutiny.

so how long did it take to get the I 129f approval and get the visa. Should I contact the NVC?

My I129f was approved in 5 months. The I130 was approved a week later, the I129f went to the NVC where it was assigned a case number and then it sat there for two weeks before they administratively closed it because of the approved I130. Per the NVC 9/10 the I129f will always be held at the NVC waiting for the I130 to catch up.

The rep so bluntly and honestly told me that it is a waste of time doing the I129f if your already married and have a I130 working through the system. I 129 will always be closed!

That is correct, the K3 has been obsolete for years and the I-129 will be administratively closed and you will follow the CR 1 track.

Security checks are backlogged and there is absolutely no time table the embassy can or would give you if they knew when they are complete.

It is out of their hands too.
