Waiting for RFE in mail

So we saw on the website that a RFE is being mailed to us for Initial Evidence for our AOS. This is 10 days after our biometrics. So it is a good sign that someone is looking at our case. Does it mean that things will move faster such as approval for EAD and AP once we send back the response for the RFE? We are a little surprise we got an RFE since we got throught the K1 process without one.

Like everyone else we are just hoping the process moves along quickly.

No it doesn't mean things will move faster on your EAD/AP. RFE's on the contrary don't do your petitions any justice but instead could freeze time or reset processing clock depending on the nature of the RFE. The earlier you normally send them back in ASAP the better your petitions wake up again from sleep.

I have have also heard of times where folks have gotten approval fairly qucikly after sending in requested information for an RFE. We will keep our fingers crossed.

In cases like those it's not because the RFE sped up their approval. They were already on the way to getting approved. Like I said before the RFE's received by USCIS merly led to the continuation of the petitions to be processed. Petitions normally get frozen when RFE's get requested. It's only an approved expedition request that CAN speed up the process more than the normal USCIS timeframe. Hope you get it now.

All my applications was approved within 10 days after RFE response was delivered (I-765, I-751...) so there is no restarting.

Was it a request for initial evidence as the OP is asking or a request for additional evidence. There is a big difference what type of RFE you receive and when to determine the net impact on your application delay.

That's exactly what I thought. Send your RFE's ASAP so they can jump start your cause again.

When my wife went through AOS years ago, I asked about the I-864 at the interview. The officer told me that is reviewed by the service center handling the case before its scheduled for an interview. So it looks like after the lockbox sends it to a service center, an officer at the service center verifies if all of the initial evidence is included and determines if the the I-864 is good enough.

For some odd reason at the time NBC and Baltimore were quick:

Sent paperwork in during mid December 2009.

Received Receipts about 10 days later.

Received ASC appointment notice in late December 2009.

ASC appointment in the middle of January 2010.

Received Interview Letter in late January 2010.

Interview date was March 3, 2010. Officer said that she was going to make a recommendation for approval to supervisor.

Received email saying case was in Card Production status later that day.

Received GC about 10 days later in the mail.

^{RFE is for 2013 tax return which we know we sent the first time. Maybe they misplaced the other one. Hopefully they will get right back on our case.}
