AOS fee with k2,money order confusion

Hi we are in the process of filing our AoS, need help re: fees...



For K1: $985 filing fee + $85 biometrics fee = 1070


For K2 (4 yrs old): $635


No fees for EAD and AP



1. Do we send separate checks/money orders for 1070 and for my k2 with 635?


2.IF needed to be separate money order for k1 and k2 . Who should be the payee for each is it my husband USC or me?

-03/20/2015 Received biometric letter from the mail

-04/02/2015 Biometric

-04/03/2015 rfe received from the mail

-04/10/2015 rfe mailed

-04/13/2015 rfe delivered

-04/05/2015 Rfe response review update on USCIS website said I will receive decision till June 14,2015

-05/19/2015 EAD "card was ordered to produce"

-05/19/2015 AP "case was approved"

-05/26/2015 "approval letter for AP and EAD received in the mail

We wrote one check. If you write one check, and something is wrong with the file, and must be returned (reasons vary), then you get it ALL back. Last summer, that seemed to be the way to go. I don't think it matters whose name is on the signature line (as long as it's yours or your spouse's! ;) ).

K1 Visa timeline:

07/25/2014 - Johan arrives in Los Angeles!

11/17/2014 - K2 gets an interview waiver letter in the mail (dated November 12th) (K1 has never gotten this letter)

08/24/2015 - Green cards are FINALLY in hand after nearly 13 months of waiting.

05/31/2017 - biometrics appt (Oxnard, CA)

06/19/2018 - ROC still pending with no news but that wonky glitch back in February, so we went ahead and filed for citizenship

Hi ellenor,

You have to separate the k1 payment which is 1,070 and k2- payment 635

Clip the money order on the top of each application whoever purchase the money order should sign the money order... If you purchase it then you sign it...

I got my forms returned because I combined the payment ... Good luck

It doesn't matter who purchases and signs the money orders. Typically you can only purchase money orders up to certain amounts, so you probably need more than one anyway.

You can combine the amounts or make them out separately. You just need to make sure to include the correct amounts.

I sent in one personal check ($2140USD) with my wife (K1) and stepson (K2) AOS apps (I-485/I-864/I-693/I-765/I-131); accepted, approved, no problem.

why is the total $2,140? Shouldn't it be just $1,705 for both of them?
