My Mom has a temporary green card, her 2nd anniversary is on June 20th, the person who helped her with the applications when she first applied told her that uscis will send her a letter/reminder when her 90 day period to remove condition is close but I have never heard of that to be honest. I just want to make sure

Welcome to the forum.

My wife and stepson received a renewal notice from USCIS about four months before the expiration of the conditional 2-year Green Cards. This seems to be a fairly new process that USCIS is trying to implement as a result of recommendations from the USCIS Ombudsman: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/nativedocuments/Response_to_CISOMB_I-751_Recommendation_Signed_7-10-13.pdf To be sure, I would recommend following the above advice of Lainie B.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

To sum it up, don't rely to much on the reminder letter they send you because it may never come. So unless you want to risk losing your status, make sure you file the petition to remove your conditional residence before it expires. You have 90 day window to do so before your two year green card expires.
