I should pull down my website with the guide.. no one reads it. Info on the I-94 is there ;)

Hank_ - seems the majority of readers or would-be readers here at VJ in the PI forum,

use a handphone for web-browsing,

and mostly, not see yer signature area.

Since they cannot see it, they cannot click through to get to yer web site.

Suggest to keep the site up, admonish handphone users to go get on a @#$ing PC, enable signature viewing on their profile settings also.

It's fun ! Handphones SUCK !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I live nearby and drove home to access and print it.

I didn't see birth certificate as a required document on the SSA website. Has any fiancee who has recently been issued a SSN been asked for birth certificate?

Yes, my fiancee was asked for the birth certificate! The SS officer scrutinized that in fact.

I read this section of the SSA website that said the passport can be used instead of birth certificate.

http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm

The link you provided is for US born citizen

We got SSN couple months ago when my fiancé arrived:

All they needed was 1-94,Passport, and Birth Certificate........

I read this at the link after clicking through Adult, Original, then Noncitizen:

"Age

You must present your foreign birth certificate if you have it or can get it within 10 days. If not, we will consider other documents such as your passport or a document issued by DHS as evidence of your age."

We'll give it a try.

And this is why I suggest to bring a couple copies of the NSO BC to the USA ;)

Nah - it's always handy to be helpful with the suggestions. I do the same on the white books copies and 2nd shot record. [for China]

There is always what the agency says and what the workers require. Case in point: I was told and it states on the Colorado DMV website that another state's DL may be used when obtaining a CO DL. The lady behind the desk--this is after waiting for aver 2 hours--looks at my KS DL and starts to hand it back to me and saying, "You will need to bring in a copy of your BC." To which I asked as I pulled out my passport, "Will this work?" She sighed heavily and finished processing my CO DL. So the SSA webstie may state that they will accept the passport for age, but the worker you get may say that they MUST see a BC. So you may have to ask for a supervisor.

I hope it goes well for you,

Dave

We went to SSA to get fiancee's SSN today. We showed them her passport and the I-94. The SSA person typed info in his computer and asked us a few question. He asked her father's name, mother's maiden name and her place of birth. He didn't know where to find the Admission Record Number, so we showed him that from the I-94. He said we should receive the SSN in the mail in about 10 days.

That will do it. Sometimes the applicant knows more than the agent. :secret: The card production is usually pretty fast. Wouldn't be surprised if you didn't have it by Saturday or Monday next.

Next up is the wedding and then back to SS for the name change. Good luck.
