Hello. I did not find this information in other threads. I'm applying for my citizenship in July and willing to change my first name ( make my name easier in pronunciation) what forms should I fill, did anybody experienced this process?

And second question: I got divorced last year and am wondering if the officer will ask me any questions about my ex?? ( I am filling based on 5 years)

Thanks

Look at the N400 application. There's a section for changing your name.

People change their names all the time.

If you got your green card through marriage, then yes, the interviewer may ask you questions about your ex.

My wife also changed her first name at citizenship. No additional forms to fill out.

The interviewer should have printed out a form for her to sign. That form shows her new and old name and will then be signed by a judge. It's her proof that her name was legally changed.

If they didn't do that maybe they'll make her sign the name change form at the oath, but that's unusual.

oh, I have to ask you another question. Since I am applying based on 5 years residency, I don't need to attach any prove or info about my marriage, right? So just N400, 2 photos, proof that marriage ended, fees.......is that That easy??

Hi vishnya, I applied based on my 5 year rule, I included my divorce decree with my application, and then when I had my interview, I brought ALL documents with me including my marriage certificate, the divorce decree, and also my ex-spouses divorce decree from his first marriage. IO did not even request to see these documents.

The IO did ask me my marital status, I told her I was divorced, she asked me what happened and why divorced, i told her that ex cheated on me and so I left him, not about to be married to someone like that, and IO said OK. And that was that.
