I just e-filed for 2006 over the weekend, IRS tells me it takes 3 weeks to process on top of that 2 weeks to provide the transcripts. Is there any faster way such as taking a copy of my return to a local office to have certified?

Does your consulate require this?

YMMV

Take a copy of the return you filed. There is not need for anything to be "certified" unless your consulate has some unusual requirement.

Yes, on another note I had someone prepare my taxes and efile them for me. He states I can take a local copy to have stamped at a local office.

Also the form the consulate gave us after interview says to provide 2006 IRS transcripts :(

Reminds me of my prob with my fiance a while ago haha.... you might wanna check to the one helping you to e-file your taxes, whether you can retrieve your paperworks/get some copies of your 1040 from the software/program used to e-file your taxes or not. My fiance used HR blocks and some other guys here use TurboTax, and those softwares would keep copies of what you've filed automatically. Oh ya, and the copies do not have to be certified.

Good because I have all the documents from the e-file, he marked them as copies and the accountant and I also signed them, I think that should be sufficient. I did email embassy but they asked for case # so I should get a response tonight. I do not want to wait a month for tax transcripts.
