My wife got a priority date this month (January 2015) through my petition and I guess it's a minimum of 21 more months for her to be finally get here in the US. While I can go back to the Philippines for vacations, we are considering sending a letter to USCIS to see if they could give her some considerations for a tourist visa. This way, she can visit me while waiting for her Immigrant Visa. To be honest, eversince I got to the US, I am avoiding going to places since I get lonely and I rather enjoy it when I'm with her. (L)(L)

Has anyone here tried this before? Was it successful? Is it worth the try?

She goes to the Embassy in her country--the PI--and applies for a tourist visa. She must show stronger ties to the PI than to the US. Having a spouse in the US may hurt her ability to get a tourist visa or it may help. Depends. One could look at it that the Embassy will not issue a tourist visa because she could come to the US and file for AOS. Or they could issue a tourist visa because she could not file for AOS given that she has immigration intent and to use a tourist visa to come to the US and then file for AOS with immigration intent is visa fraud and any AOS will be denied. So it really come down to who she has as an IO at the Embassy. There is nothing, zero, nadda, that you can do to help her. She must satisfy the IO that she will return to the PI have a short stay. Failing that she will be denied. To find this out you must pay the price of admission which is the nonrefundable visa fee.

Good luck,

Dave

I am afraid to say this - the chances of getting the tourist VISA is very very minimal, and am saying because i tried the same thing for my wife last year and that request was rejected saying there is already an immigration petition filed for you.

I can understand your pain & situation, but you are not alone. This system is like this only brother - neither they will advance the priority date of our category fast nor they will issue a visiting VISA for us to stay together with our loved ones. We got no other choice but to keep WAIT..WAIT & WAIT...!!!!
