I've been off here for a couple of weeks. Last time I posted that I had my medical at Knightsbridge and they had requested some more information about an operation I had aged 5, after driving my doctors crazy for a couple of weeks pushing to get the information and having to pay £50 for the info Knightsbridge wanted, It was received by Knightsbridge yesterday and is being sent to the embassy today :)

Another step closer!! Whoop whoop! Ur issue with the medical inspired me to get accurate info on the date I had my appendix out when I was younger so I can try and avoid any potential hold ups! Hope you get your interview date soon! x

Fiance's mom let us know the RFE came on monday. She read it to us. They wanted to check the website we met on is not an international marriage broker. I am saving all the TOS and the website description and we'll print it all off for him so he can send it out when he gets home. I'm not concerned about this RFE, I feel it's simple and that it won't be an issue. I must admit I had thought it was anything but this. We are currently enjoying our week together until he goes home on sunday

I've heard more and more people are getting RFEs for having met online, even if the website is well known to the USCIS (such as eHarmony) and they already know it doesn't fall under IMBRA. It should be easily resolved with a print out of the TOS.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I got an email from DX saying that my passport should be delivered tomorrow, which is very exciting! I'm having it delivered to my work, which will be fun - we've been trying to gloss over the fact that we're getting married from family and friends so that we can essentially elope once I get over there! Does the visa as it's put on your passport mention that it's a fiancé visa, or does it just say K1?

Things are getting so close! My fiancée has found us a place of our own in IL, so the next step is to book a flight!

That's great news to here lurdino! Congratulations :) :)

Does the visa as it's put on your passport mention that it's a fiancé visa, or does it just say K1?

My approved K1 visa package arrived recently, albeit to the depot and not delivered to my office or home (I couldn't guarantee where I'd be during to travel commitments, and couldn't guarantee anybody else being around either). I thought I'd provide some information for you and for others as we all go through the experience, just on the oft-chance that it helps.

The new US visa in my passport lists only the clue "Type/Class: K1". Other than that, there are no obvious clues that this visa would be for a fiancé visa. Somebody who is ridiculously eagle-eyed might deduce something strange by looking at the number of entries (1) or looks at the expiration date (six months after your K1 NOA2, I presume). Even then, they wouldn't be able to completely guess it is for a fiancé visa.

I thought I'd tell you what is in the rest of the packet just to provide some more information in case you're planning on opening the package near other people. My packet was sent in a non-descript, unassuming plastic envelope the type of which you might receive goods purchased from many online retailers. On the package, there was no mention of the source (US Embassy) or that it contained anything related to a fiancé visa (or any visa for that matter). Please see my final line though about signing for the package though.

Other than my passport, inside the package was a big white envelope which is the "Big Brown Envelope" (BBE) that I surrender unopened/untampered to the immigration official at my port of entry into the USA. Admittedly, the envelope isn't brown but bygones. I've attached a photograph of the only writing on the envelope which makes no mention of the fiancé visa.

There was also a small information sheet paper which does mention fiancé visa and I've attached a photograph so that you can be aware of that too. The piece of paper basically mentions the oft-mentioned issue with leaving without having requesting advance parole.

post-222784-0-11464300-1458764878_thumb.jpg (click to expand)

As mentioned, I picked up the package from a local DX Depot. The form that I was asked to sign to collect the package did say "US Visa Services" or words to that effect but there was no mention of fiancé visa on the packaging (strangely, the piece of paper did list five other people's names that would also be receiving packages from the US embassy at that depot location). I have no idea how that compares to when somebody signs for delivery.

I hope that helps and reassures you that, assuming your package is similar to my package, there is no major mention of K1 fiance visa on your passport. The package itself contains a tiny slip of paper which can be discretely discard if you have to open it in public (but presumably you wouldn't be doing that given your preference for privacy in the matter!).

I hope that helps and just adds to the knowledge on these fora.

Thank you Simon, that is extremely helpful! I appreciate the level of detail. I probably will open it in public - I'm not sure how I could get away with it, since it's being delivered to our office and I'm friendly with the receptionists - but this makes me feel much better about it.

And of course, congratulations on receiving your visa!

Got to London safely yesterday to spend Easter with Fiance's family--counting down the days until his interview on the 4th of April. Feels like forever until it comes but while I'm here, figured I can take some of his stuff back for him and bring over his signed Affidavit of Support and his sister's bridesmaid dress for the wedding. I never trust international mail--they've lost things too many times on me.

Thanks for the heads up Simon!! It seems like it take no more than a week to a week and a half for the approved visa to reach the beneficiary which is a good thing :D

Congrats!!

Got my interview date :) April 21st. Bring it on!

Congratulations!

I waited in the office until 7pm and the DX courier still didn't show up. They've rescheduled for Tuesday and gave me a narrower arrival time, but I'm still pretty annoyed. I was excited to have the visa in my hands.

It's not a well known site but it's also 100% free and not an issue. We did a cover letter, TOS, Print out from the front page about what the website is etc and a copy of both of our profile pages. He's going to send it out this following week, he'll let me know when. He's currently on his way back home and will get home tomorrow around 10am-12pm his time. I expect he'll of mailed it back by the end of the week. It was a simple RFE to reply to so I am greatful that it wasn't anything more complex.

**Super off-topic, but hopefully important post. Keep in mind I am not trying to start a political discussion, just let you guys know about an opportunity**

Hey everyone! Sorry have been keeping away from the forums lately, but I do have an interesting proposition for anyone interested.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th, Presidential Candidate Donald Trump will be visiting my undergrad alma matter and I was invited back and nominated for the opportunity to take part in a Q & A with him.

While I definitely had my reservations about the situation, I realize my old professors hand-picked me for a reason and don't want to pass up the opportunity to ask the sort of questions that need to be asked.

SO! As individuals who clearly have a stake in US immigration policy, as well as some new and prospect Americans, I wanted to open up a channel for anyone here who has any questions/concerns/etc that would like such to be voiced by me tomorrow.

Feel free to let message me about it if you are interested, as I don't want to distract too much from this thread. Either way, it's good to be back! I missed you guys.
