Please don't leave Pheebs! Your posts have been invaluable to myself and many others on here, and I'm sorry you're receiving criticism for something that was out of your control.

Regardless of who feels aggrieved and who's right or wrong, disagreements like this almost NEVER end well on the internet. I really enjoy reading other people's updates in here, so hopefully the last few pages can just be swept under the rug and things can go back to normal.

I haven't really posted much on VJ, mainly just lurked in the background and read other people's stories with interest. But the embassy received my medical results on Friday, and now I'm just waiting for my interview letter. I'm killing the time by selling off anything I don't need when I move, and packing up anything I won't use in the next couple of months.

I came back from a week in MN last Tuesday, and for the first time, being there felt like 'home' in a weird way. I don't know if I can pinpoint why exactly. Maybe because I'm starting to develop friendships with my fiance's friends, that extend beyond just 'meeting the future husband of my friend'. Maybe because I'm navigating my way around the city with a degree of confidence, and revisiting bars/restaurants that I've enjoyed spending time in.

I'M SO GODDAMN EXCITED TO LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS.

I agree, Pheebs - please don't go! :(

Please join in and share us your journey :). I'm guessing you'll get your interview letter 3-4 weeks from the date of your medical. Good plan getting rid of stuff now, it's always a pain getting rid of stuff!

That's brilliant that you feel like America is a home, it's not something you can put in words it's something you feel. I remember visiting my fiance for the first time and just feeling like everything was great, like it was a hom. So I can understand how you feel.

IT ARRIVED! IT ACTUALLY ARRIVED!

Woohoo! Great news for you both! You must have been waiting by the door with your suitcases you booked your flight that fast!! Safe journey and keep in touch.

As creator of this thread I'm really disheartened to see it get to this point. One comment has completely brought this thread down. We have 2 awesome people saying they're leaving.

This was the small part of the forum where I felt that we could avoid drama and just talk and get to know each other, while updating each other about our journeys. Lets get back to that. Pheebs had every right to stick up for herself down to a comment stef made that literally came out of nowhere. But the continuation of the war against TSC vs. CSC rages on and it's turned the thread into another drama.

TSC people - It fudging sucks what you're going through. We don't understand. But please stop taking it out on CSCers.

CSC people - You don't understand the injustice that is the different wait times. Yes you understand distance and relationship struggles, but on this topic it is a different thing.

Can we just agree to these conditions and stop this bickering? I want normal talk back because gosh farm it i like this thread!

I completely agree!

This time in 3 weeks I will (hopefully, delays be gone!) be on a plane to Denver!! Weeee. Feels like ages away yet, time is dragging! Last day of work is next week, my parents have surprised me with a trip to Wales since I was born there. I moved when I was a baby so I don't remember it at all, so they want me to remember my roots. Very sweet of them.

that's awesome that soon you will have your interview and thats a brilliant idea to be selling all your items or packing up what you don't need before you come. I did the same thing and I am so glad I did it freed my mind of stress and worry. I left behind only some things I won't need and bought everything else I could fit into two middle sized suitcases. I am so happy for you that you are almost at the end of the visa journey and soon you will be moving to America. I am also in Minnesota, I have been here 6 days so far and I can definitely relate to feeling at home right away, I am living in a small town about an hour from Minneapolis and I love everything about life here. It's peaceful, I love all the food, I love how welcoming the people are and being in a small town makes a nice change for me to when I lived in a large town in England, I am glad that if i got bored we can drive to St.Cloud, minneapolis etc. I feel so at home here! I am also so happy to be with my fiance in the same place and soon we are getting married. Edited by vicks5721

I think the Minneapolis group needs a meet-up in the future, even if for the sole purpose of seeing someone else from England. ;) Gotta love the Twin Cities. And it's a great time of year; this week is supposed to hit 70+ degrees (22+ Celsius).

Next week is our interview! The excitement is killing me even though from what I've read it's a non-event. Kas and I did a trial run of 'test' questions that were made on this site and he nailed them all to satisfaction. I hope that calmed his nerves a little bit, but I suppose we'll both be biting our fingernails the night before the interview. I told him I would stay awake until after he has come out of the embassy. Thankfully, that will only be about (I hope) 230A at the latest.

Honestly Chris it's nothing to worry about. I was actually only asked one question which was how Aubrey and I met. No doubt you've read a few reviews, basically you go in and get called up, someone checks your paperwork to make sure you have everything and you sit back down. You get called up again and someone else then 'interviews' you. (It honestly just reminded me of a very large bank, there just booth windows) they give you a decision there and then. It took me about 3 hours from entering to leaving, but I only actually spent about 15 minutes talking to people about my application

Thanks, Gary. He's a member at British Expats forum and don't think they're as reassuring over there. As I've mentioned before, he's usually the one talking me off the ledge, funny how I am now doing that for him. :)

The biggest thing people told me that kept me calm was that the only reason this step exists is to try and catch fraudulent applications. If you're legit (which I don't doubt that you are). Then every answer will be a good one. They only ask enough questions to be satisfied that this isn't some sort of scam, which is why out of the list of 20 questions or so they could ask, the average seems to be 3.

Be prepared to be more bored than scared. You'll be sitting in a room watching a screen for your number, it's like the longest game of bingo ever and you do it twice.

If this happens anytime from June onwards, count me in! (I guess that's when I'll be there from).
