I was born outside of US and my parents never got me a Naturalization Certificate so now that I am older I want to know if i really need it or not, I have a U.S. Passport to prove im US Citizen do I still need the Certificate? I stayed in Philippines with my wife for 7 months and I will start the Spouse Visa from California but if i need the Nat. Certificate I will be very sad since the process will take a few months longer :(

With a copy of your passport is fine, because when you complete the I-130 they ask for information about your citizenship but with a copy of your US passport is fine.I only send copies, and my case was completed.

Were you born Outside of USA to parents who were not born Citizens of USA?

Because My parents were petitioned by my moms sibling and i just know that everyone in my family has a US Passport but my parents never got the Naturalization Certificate they thought I wouldnt need it.

I sent a colored photocopy of my biometric pages and was approved... I didn't send a naturalization certificate.

Were you born outside of USA to Parents who became citizens while you were in US with them like me ?

Aand how does the biometric thing prove youre citizen?? Im talking about Passport/Naturalization Certificate.

If you have US passport then you are US citizen and you can file petition for your spouse:)

Also later on at NVC stage you will have to provide proof for re-establish US domicile (if you are not living in the US)

I will ask the same question to you, were you born outside of USA to parents who were not Citizens when you were born like me.

I am beneficiary so....

I understand what you are asking....but...IF you are already US citizen, then you are. As I know US passport is enough to prove that.

You have to send to USCIS just one evidence....birth cert. OR Naturalization cert. OR US passport (read I-130 instruction).

Good luck:)

Simple.....You can`t get US passport if you are not USC :)

Sending a copy of your US Passport to establish your US Citizenship when you file your petition is sufficient; period, full-stop.

Thanks. I will try it without the Nat. Certificate and see what happens. I just dont understand why they would need it since I have a US Passport, CAlifornia Drivers License, CA ID, SSN/card, i can vote.. Etc.

US Passport is conclusive proof of US citizenship, period.

However, if Naturalized.. as the OP is, Item 13 of the I-130 Petition does ask for information that is specific to a Naturalization document.

Perhaps that may be why OP wants to know about the Natz Certificate requirement. I don't know if a filer can reference his\her US passport for Item 13 question.
